I worry that the market for educational publishing has become SO conservative, we as illustrators are not allowed to show cows udders, naked pigs or women's bosoms.

Well done on blogging about the problem of illustrated udders :o)
Maybe the message will reach those who need to know... eventually.
I didn´t know this about images restriction:sound really silly, soon illustrators will spend more time trying to find a place between restrictions than drawing an illo!such a great illo you made!!!
that sounds so crazy.. what do naked pigs look like to make them so wrong? weird. great great drawing though! i liked that you illustrated a worry you personally might have.
I am a children's book illustrator and I live in Vermont with my husband, three cats, and numerous chickens. I love farm animals, gardening, playing my guitar (badly) and traveling with my husband. But most of all I love making pictures in my studio.

Good illustration. Well maybe the conservative publisher don't want children to be doctors or vets... or know how things work in this world...
But on "Barnyard" cartoon, bulls have udders. Lovely technique.
